We love making documentaries in Manchester. Not just talking about ideas. We want to make the films we believe in and make them happen.
So, we set up our company Films Not Words. Enough talking, let’s crack on and make documentaries about some of the amazing people on our doorstep. Even better, let’s make them with the talented crew who live and work here.
Founded in 2023, our team have been working here for over 20 years on programmes for the BBC and Channel4 among others. We have got the contacts and we get the people.
Now, just like the city we belong in, we want to do things differently. We want to redress the balance, on and off screen, offering more opportunities and fair pay to crew outside London and greater representation of women behind and in front of the camera....
Our first feature-length documentary film, The Corinthians: We Were The Champions, tells the amazing story of a forgotten Manchester women’s football team who conquered the world at the height of the FA's ban on women. Told entirely by 10 surviving players, in their own words.

THE LIGHT CINEMAS
Following enquiries from across the country from people eager to see the film, we are excited to announce the launch of The Corinthians: We Were The Champions into The Light cinemas!
Screenings will kick off with seven nights at The Light cinemas in Stockport and Bolton from April 17th - with a special Q&A with the director and former Corinthians players in Stockport that night.
There will be a special one-off screening across the entire chain on April 30th, at The Light cinemas in Addlestone, Banbury, Bolton, Bradford, Cambridge, Huddersfield, New Brighton, Redhill, Sheffield, Sittingbourne, Stockport, Thetford, Walsall and Wisbech.
